You might be a member of the far right if….

Defining the far right isn’t really that hard when you’ve got a list of things they believe to compare them to.

How does one define the far-right? I’m not a political scientist, but here’s my attempt to define the characteristics of someone who is on the far-right.

If you are a neo-Nazi, you might be a member of the far right.

If you deny the Holocaust, you might be a member of the far right.

If you hate Jews, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think Jews run Hollywood, the media, and/or banking, you might be a member of the far right.

If you are a white supremacist, you might be a member of the far right.

If you are a white nationalist, you or might be a member of the far right.

If you are a “European or western chauvinist,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that there were a lot of “very fine people” in Charlottesville, you might be a member of the far right.

If you apply the phrase “alt-right” to yourself, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think The NYTimes, WaPo, CNN, et al are biased but that Fox News, OANN, The Daily Caller, Breitbart, and InfoWars aren’t, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think Alex Jones and InfoWars are being treated unfairly by Facebook, you might be a member of the far right.

If your first thought after hearing about Sandy Hook, Parkland, the Tree of Life, Christchurch, and San Diego was something like “hh crap, they’re going to try to take away my guns” instead of “this is horrible, what can we do to stop the dying,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that registration of your guns is the start of a slippery slope to gun confiscation, you might be a member of the far right.

If you stockpile ammo after every school shooting in case the Democrats try to pass gun control, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think it’s a good idea to arm teachers, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe that gun laws are already too restrictive, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that the Second Amendment does not allow any regulation of firearms, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that the “unalienable Rights” described by the Declaration of Independence only apply to US citizens, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that the US should end birthright citizenship, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think the President should be allowed to build a border wall without Congress’ express approval, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think gerrymandering to keep Republican control over state legislatures and the House of Representatives is just fine, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think it’s OK for Donald to pack the federal bench with his political allies, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that voter fraud is a serious issue, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think it’s OK to ban former felons from voting for life, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think corporations and the wealthy should be allowed to donate unlimited money to political candidates and parties, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think people who can’t afford food should be allowed to starve, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think it’s OK to mock and bully the disabled, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think transgendered people are mentally ill, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think women are inferior to men, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe sexual assault victims were “asking for it,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you are a pickup artist, you might be a member of the far right.

If you are an incel, you might be a member of the far right.

If you are a men’s right activist, you might be a member of the far right.

If you oppose easy access to contraceptives, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think murdering abortion providers is morally justified, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think abortion shouldn’t be allowed even in cases of rape, incest, to save the life of the mother, or when the fetus is non-viable, you might be a member of the far right.

If you follow the “prosperity gospel,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe God gave man dominion over the world instead of stewardship over it, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think churches should be allowed to preach politics from the pulpit, you might be a member of the far right.

If you oppose gay marriage, you might be a member of the far right.

If you hate gays, you might be a member of the far right.

If you hate Muslims, you might be a member of the far right.

If you are a Christian Zionist, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that the Bible is the source of all truth, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think science is no different from religion, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think “book learning” is less valid than common sense, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe education is important but only if you can pay for it, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe that trickle-down economics works, you might be a member of the far right.

If you don’t trust academics and intellectuals, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think the Nazis were leftists because of the word “socialism” in their name, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think Antifa are “the real fascists,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you agree with QAnon, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think some races are smarter than others, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think some different ethnicities shouldn’t share the same country/state/city/town/neighborhood, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think racism is a thing of the past, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think Blue Lives Matter is more important than Black Lives Matter, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe that Black Lives Matter is a terrorist group, you might be a member of the far right.

If you’re think it’s OK to put polluting industries in poor neighborhoods because they can’t fight back, you might be a member of the far right.

If you don’t want poor people to have the tools to rise out of poverty, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe that only people with good jobs deserve good quality healthcare, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think the DREAM ACT is a bad idea, you might be a member of the far right.

If you call refugees and immigrants at the US-Mexico border “illegals,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you think it’s OK to split up immigrant families at the border, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that the US is “full,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you think indefinite detention of immigrants is OK, you might be a member of the far right.

If you supported Donald’s travel ban from Muslim countries, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think due process is for US citizens only, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe that if America does it, it must be good, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe in “America, right or wrong,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you agree with the slogan “America First,” you might be a member of the far right.

If you’re a jingoist instead of a patriot, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe nationalism is a good thing, you might be a member of the far right.

If you believe that the New World Order is a real thing, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that globalism has been bad for the US, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that NATO has been a bad deal for the US, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think that China is our enemy but Russia should be our friend, you might be a member of the far right.

If you would rather be Russian than a Democrat, you might be a member of the far right.

If you think Obama was a socialist, you might be a member of the far right.

And if more than 10 or 15 of the items listed above apply to you, you almost certainly are a member of the far right.
