Who is Turning Point USA and what is Kurt Russell afraid to say?
You may have seen this one on your social media lately.
There are multiple things here that I wonder about.
First, see that little logo at the bottom? Here’s a larger version:
I’m not going to preach here. I’m just going to ask you go read about them and to think about their credibility as a source. Do they reflect your values?
I hate to be the sort to dismiss things out of hand, but TPUSA has worked hard to cultivate their brand. I’m a big believer of the adage that when people tell you who they are you should listen.
The second issue is the idea under attack. As a rule, any time you hear someone bitching about “political correctness” you’re probably not hearing what they really mean. Kurt asks “why is there political correctness?” But that isn’t a mystery – we know where it comes from. The term is a creation of the far right and was developed to suppress criticism of racist, sexist and other forms of discriminatory speech.
More critically, though, what precisely is this speech that can’t be safely uttered? Specifically, what is Kurt Russell afraid to say? Think about those you know of who complain about political correctness – what do they seem to be afraid to say out loud?
It feels like a lot of people are very comfortable saying what’s on their minds since the last election. Is that what he’s talking about?
I don’t know Kurt Russell, so I can’t say for sure. I do know I’ve never heard someone driven by values of love, compassion, fairness and a sense of justice complaining about political correctness. I know political correctness doesn’t bother me.
Does it bother you?

Russell, long a spouter of Reich-wing propaganda, has no credibility to begin with.
I don’t know anout Russell or TPUSA, but I do know language, and the right are trying to create a language where being an SJW, or social justice warrior, is a bad thing. They want to paint everyone left of right with one brush, and turn liberal thought into communism and socialism, both words which Americans have been taught to be afraid of. Why? First, bevause true Zmeficans are capitalists, and believe it is okay to let those capitalists hoard all the money they can, while leabing less and less around for the other classes, even though there are “no classes” in American society. They have turned We the People into individualists who don’t want to shafe what they have with people less fortunate than they. U ions are the enemy. People are the enemy. Everything that combines rather than divides is the enemy. and calling all social justice warriors by the idiom SJWs or even DEMs is trying to create enemies where there need not be any–where there are no enemies!
It is all in the language. If you join with others, you are not a true American! Divide and conquer! Take all those old worn-out phrases and repurpose them. Give them derogatory meanings.
Are you going to let them succeed?
