Arab world cutting ties with Qatar: FIFA’s four-point plan

What should FIFA do now that the Arab world has had enough of Qatar’s bullshit? Double down, baby!

A number of Arab countries including Saudi Arabia and Egypt have cut diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of destabilising the region.

They say Qatar backs militant groups including so-called Islamic State (IS) and al-Qaeda, which Qatar denies.

The Saudi state news agency SPA said Riyadh had closed its borders, severing land, sea and air contact with the tiny peninsula of oil-rich Qatar.

Seriously – Qatar is so bad that Saudi Fucking Arabia is stepping away from them.

Which brings us to a question: what about the 2022 World Cup? (The awarding of which was suspiciouser than Sepp Blatter squeezed into a lace man-romper stuffed with $18 bills to start with, but I digress.)

FIFA issued a short statement on Monday saying it spoke with “the Qatar 2022 Local Organising Committee and the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy handling matters relating to the 2022 FIFA World Cup.”

Well, that clears things up.

Truth is, this is actually a fantastic opportunity for FIFA. They can:

  • take the Copa away from Qatar
  • keep the bribes
  • stage another round of bidding
  • and get more bribes

Win-win, yes?

And I’m just going to go ahead and assume that this course of action has already been discussed, approved by unanimous vote and handed over to the planning committee at FIFA HQ.

Jesus is coming, children, and he accepts cash, check, card or suitcases full of petrodollars….
