Today, scholar and rogue nonpareil George Carlin turns 70.
Looking for recent pieces on him, I saw this column by a guy named Leo Kelley with the Ada Evening News who says he wrote George and got a moving response about the desperate straits America finds itself in these days. “I’m going to share his letter,” says Kelley. “Take it for what it’s worth.”
The main problem I have with it is that as true as some of the expressed sentiments may be, who really gives a shit? Certainly not me. I figured out years ago that the human species is totally fucked and has been for a long time.
Bless you George, you cranky old bastard, and thanks for all the thought-provoking laughs over the years. As for you, Leo, read up on what happened to Boston Globe columnist Mike Barnicle.
