AP is reporting that Hamas militants have suspended a TV program aimed at children that featured a Mickey Mouse lookalike encouraging Palestinian kids to fight against Israel.
The character, named Farfour, or “butterfly” is a black and white rodent who talks in a high squeaky voice. Sound like a cartoon character you’ve heard of before?
I doubt that any of us ever heard Mickey say things like this, however:
“You and I are laying the foundation for a world led by Islamists,” Farfour squeaked on a recent episode. “We will return the Islamic community to its former greatness, and liberate Jerusalem, God willing, liberate Iraq, God willing, and liberate all the countries of the Muslims invaded by the murderers.”
Kids called in to the show and sang Hamas battle anthems.
Palestinian Information Minister Mustafa Barghouti called the show a “mistaken approach” to the struggle of Palestinians against Israel.
The show, broadcast by Al Aqsa, a Hamas affiliated satellite channel, is now “under review.”
The Disney Company has not returned phone calls seeking comment.
