I took this at a tollbooth along the Pennsylvania turnpike a few days ago–nothing around but concrete and pavement. Somehow, a seed had made its way from a planter and found the one spot in the crack where it could germinate. It never ceases to amaze me that Mother Nature always finds a way.

“Dust in the wind!! All we are is dust in the wind!”- Kansas, rock band
It is very true. If mankind were to disappear, either through some calamity of our own making or not, all our constructs would fade and fall. That road would be broken up over time and weeds/flowers grow through it. We like to think ourselves all powerful, but alas, we are mere mortals. Everything we make, will fall. Everybody we love will die. Time marches on and is merciless.
In some ways, this is a good thing. There is nothing we can fuck up permanently!
